Dr. Palmquist joined the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation Board of Directors as President and Research Committee Chair in 2007.
He graduated from CSU in 1983 where he was selected to receive the Upjohn award for proficiency in small animal medicine. After investigating CAVM, he began using therapeutic nutrition and gradually branched out into other modalities, especially Homotoxicology and Chinese Herbal Medicines. He found that many therapies could be easily integrated into clinical practice and coauthored a text entitled, “Integrating Complementary Medicine into Veterinary Practice.” His practice grew and veterinarians were interested in his methods. His busy practice receives referrals from all over the USA including local specialists. Currently, his office sees about 16,500 canine and feline patients visits yearly.
He has written over 20 scientific papers and is on the faculty of Western University of Sciences where he teaches fourth year veterinary professional students as a preceptor in Integrative Veterinary Medicine. He is also on the faculty of Australia’s College of Integrative Veterinary Therapy where he teaches Bioregulatory Medicine and Homotoxicology. He lectures regularly at the NAVC in Orlando, Florida. He has also lectured at the World Veterinary Conference in South Africa.
He has served the veterinary community as Program Chair and Chapter President of the Northbay chapter of the SCVMA and as president of the AHVMA. After retiring from the office of Past President he ran for the Board of Directors of the AHVMA and serves there now. In addition, he is a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network in Alternative Medicine. He is also interested in assisting practitioners in publishing their clinical experiences and in supporting research into CAVM.
